31 Days of Magic & Mayhem, P. Stormcrow

 P. Stormcrow offers a chilling look into the inspiration behind the first episode of the serial, The Stranger Files. (Yes, the hairs on my arm stood after reading this account.)

When do you put up Halloween decorations? Any rules in the house?

We don't have much in the way to decorations as we live in an apartment but I try to make sure the kids have costumes well a month in advance and we try to go to the pumpkin batch midway through October.

What's your favorite Halloween tradition/decoration/memory?

We never went trick or treat door to door when I was a kid as it was a rather foreign tradition for my immigrant parents. But about three years ago, I actually got a chance to do it with my son who was three at the time and finally had a grasp on what was going on. We had the best of times hitting up the neighborhood, and I can't wait to do it again with both kids soon as a family yearly thing.

Have you ever had a paranormal/ghostly experience? Can you share a little about what happened?

There have been a few incidents when I was much younger but I will talk about one that the first episode of my serial, The Stranger Files, is based on.

My friends got into ouija at one point during late elementary school but not the kind of a board like you see in stores. Nopes, there are abbreviated versions like locking hands and asking only yes no questions with hand going up for yes, etc.

Through a series of questions, we met a ghost of a boy that had passed way on the school grounds. We found out he had passed away from a tumble down the old bleachers in the gym.

It wasn't until months later that the gym teacher snapped at some of the other kids in class for horsing around in the bleachers and after a lot of grilling from us, he admitted that a number of years ago, someone had died that way.

In retrospect, we got really lucky as you aren't ever supposed to ask a ghost how they passed be side it would anger them. It still chills me to the bone thinking about how close a call that was.

Now, did one of my friends know about the past beforehand? Were the yes and no movements just one of them moving their hands? Well I suppose that depends on whether you are a believer or not.

What do you think goes *bump* in the night?

Everything and nothing. The known, explained world as we know it is too small for there to not be other things.

The Tenth: A Horror Novella

P. Stormcrow

Being buried alive is just the beginning

Emerging from a cardboard coffin with no memory of her past, Sky knew only three things:

One. Someone had buried her alive.
Two. She saw things nobody else could see.
Three. To find out how she ended up there, she’ll need to remember.

But taken in by the three men that run the cemetery she found herself in, she wasn’t sure anymore if she wanted any of her old life back.

That was, until her visions turned bloody.

Now she must unearth her past to figure out if she is going insane or if something more is happening. Because she may have cheated death once, but she might not be so lucky the next time.
