Writing the Same-Sex Romance Workshop with Tara Lain & Me!

Only a few more days to sign up for Writing the Same-Sex Romance, which I’ll be teaching along with best-selling M/M author Tara Lain. Get ready for some in-depth insider information and a raucous good time. (I adore Tara. We’re in the same OCC/RWA chapter, and I get to see her monthly.)

The workshop starts on Monday, Sept. 9 via Savvy Authors. Here’s a look at what’s in store.

About the Workshop

Same parts, different spots, right? What’s the difference between writing a male/female erotic romance, and a same sex one? Plenty.

Bestselling authors Tara Lain and Louisa Bacio will explore setting up the same-sex romance, and getting into those detailed sexy scenes. Learn how to keep the relationship complex, and not shy away from real-life complications. How to avoid the famous “chicks with dicks problem” while still creating a deep emotional connection.

And then there are areas some probably haven’t thought about, such as, is there a difference between writing f/f fiction for heterosexual, married readers? Oh, yes, there is.  If you’ve ever thought of writing for the growing same-sex erotic fiction genre, this class is a great way to start.

About the Instructors

Tara Lain writes the Beautiful Boys of Romance -- erotic romances mostly MM and MMF ménage.
Her first erotic romance novel was published in January 2011. She’s now on book 20. Her novels have garnered awards for Best Series of 2011, Best Contemporary Romance, and Tara has been named Best Writer of the Year in the LRC Awards. In her other job, Tara owns an advertising and public relations firm, and she carries her promotional instincts into her writing career as well. She lives with her soul-mate husband in Laguna Beach, California, a pretty seaside town where she sets a lot of her books.  Passionate about diversity, justice, and new experiences , Tara says on her tombstone it will say “Yes”!

Louisa Bacio is the author of six erotic romance novels, including the paranormal series The Vampire, The Witch & The Werewolf, and numerous novellas and steamy short stories.

Bacio enjoys soaking up the sun in Southern California, and spending time with her family. In addition to writing and editing, Bacio teaches college courses in English, journalism, film studies and popular culture.
