Getting Lucky in Love

In order to believe in romance, one always has to believe in a certain amount of luck. What makes two people come together? Sometimes, the meeting is a chance happening. Other times, it’s slightly more planned. I’ve definitely been lucky in love, and fully believe there’s more than one type of love, too.

It’s hard to imagine, but I’m going on 13 years of being married. Wow, that’s a scary number. There were a few times there where I seriously questioned if we’d make it this far, and funny enough part of that was the very first year. You see, as an only child, I was used to being “alone.” Married? That’s a whole lot of shared space. My husband would come home early from work, and I’d get territorial … 13 years later, and he still does it. Now, I’ve grown used to it. Who knew?

My husband said he actually saw pictures of me in magazines before he ever met me. The idea is a little bit creepy. Seriously, was it planned? I used to work for non-fiction magazines, and often would appear in the accompanying photographs. One weekend when he was at the reserves for the military, he picked up a magazine at a convenience store, and saw this “cute” woman. Guess who it ended up being?

Anyway, us coming together seemed destined – shall I say “lucky” – to happen.

So what do you think? Are people lucky in love?

  7. I am lucky in love when it came to my husband of 23 years. When we first met I had just had a very bad break up with my last boyfriend. I spent most of the evening telling him what I would and would not put up with in a relationship. He asked me out in spite of my attitude, and the rest is history. We got married 5 years later and are still very much in love. I would say I am very lucky in love. Thanks for being part of the hop and for the chance to win. <^_^>
