“You’re a witch!”

Welcome to my stop on the ParaGoddess Blog Hop. Thank you to JoLynne Valerie for inviting me.

“You’re a witch!”

Ummm, maybe not the best way to start a palm reading at a friend’s birthday party in a backyard. I shuffled in my seat, and glanced around to see if anyone else had heard the exclamation.

“And that’s why no one understands you …”

OK, I have to admit that throughout my life, I’ve had some, ah, let’s call them extrasensory powers. Dreams that come true. Sensing of spirits. Intuition of moods. As a teen, I did exercises to tap into the energy, and never felt alone. The creepy-crawling feeling of being watched, or walking into a visually empty room and knowing something else was there freaked me out, so I locked it down. Oh, it was still there, I just didn’t let myself be as open to it.

The years passed, and then I had children. What to do when your 3-year-old tells you that there’s a “ghost in my room?” I couldn’t deny the occurrence, especially when our next-door neighbor had recently overdosed on prescription pain meds and alcohol, after getting hurt at work, and suddenly, she was hearing “Paul” outside. (I swear before that happened, she didn’t know his name.)

One night when she screamed continuously, I brought over my step-grandmother. I told her to do “whatever was necessary.” She blessed the house with holy water from three Catholic churches, and sprinkled it on the ground between our two homes. Everything stopped after that.

Since then, I’ve been more open. I write within the paranormal realm because I believe that there is so much more out there, and it’s difficult to discount what we don’t know, for sure. At conferences such as Authors After Dark, I’ll pull out my Runes and do readings. For the most part, the subject finds a meaningful connection with their question.

Tell me: How about you? Do you believe in things that go bump in the night? Do you have a spooky story to share?

Leave a comment, and a valid email address, and you’ll be entered into a contest for a virtual reading with me, and an electronic copy of your choice of one of my books. The winner will be chosen at the end of the tour, Sat. Nov. 1.

Thanks for stopping by.

If you haven’t grabbed it yet, make sure to pick up my free paranormal romance “A Date with Death.”
Available on Kindle through Oct. 27.

Tomorrow, don’t miss Monica Corwin’s stop

    1. Kirsten,

My daughter will be 12 in a few weeks. These days, she tells me to leave anything in her room alone, lol.

  5. I definitely believe in things that go bump in he night. I don't have a spooky story as anything that has happened to me - while scary I couldn't say was spooky. Thanks so the story and for participating in the Hop. laurah2727@yahoo.com. VIP

    1. Laura -- For the most part, I don't get too afraid. I have dreams of shooting white light from my palms! *magic*

  6. Really enjoyed this! I believe there are things we don't understand about our physical and 'other' worlds. My son has a sensitivity that detects the presence of our ancestors. I'm glad he isn't afraid of his gift. LucyLit88@gmail.com

  7. What a great post! I definitely believe in "otherworldly" beings. It's funny how people are afraid of what they don't know...only upon dipping a toe into my own gifts did I learn that these things seem to run in our family. I can only imagine how different my childhood would have been! melody.bharucha@gmail.com
