Authors Care -- Suicide Prevention Week Sign-Ups

Sign Ups – Suicide Prevention Week Hop

I’m putting together my first ever blog hop for a cause that’s close to me – Suicide Prevention Week. Over the course of my life, I’ve met many people whose lives have been affected by suicide. It’s especially prevalent in the LGBT community. Suicide Prevention Week is a nationwide event, but let’s put a romance twist on it – Authors Care.

During the week, please post about personal, positive, supportive, related topics. I’ve volunteered doing writing and editing for The Jacquelyn Bogue Foundation, a nonprofit suicide prevention and awareness organization. On my site, I’ll share some personal insights, along with guest columns from licensed family therapists.

As a top prize, I’ll throw in a $50 Amazon Gift Certificate, and will send a Rafflecopter code out to participants. I also ask site hosts to offer an individual prize.

When: Sept. 8-14, 2013
Grand Prize: $50 Amazon Certificate

Special thanks goes to Lex Valentine from Winterheart Designs for the Hop graphic. Please grab a copy for your posts. Addition: I've been asked, bloggers, reviewers and unpublished are invited to join, too.

Questions? Please contact me! Thanks for taking part.

Spread the love,

His Passion, Her Temptation Blurb

Granger Pharma executive Monica Granger is hiding her relationship from her family. She has to. Her lover is the son of her father's biggest business rival. Ben Coron is more than Monica can resist; he's everything she's ever wanted—including dominant in bed.

But when Coron Health makes a play for Granger Pharma, Monica's relationship—and her life—blow wide open. She loses her job, and her family rejects her. Someone's stealing Granger's vital trade secrets, and worse, Monica's brother is dodging attempts on his life.

"So, do you want to eat now … or later?" Monica's smile turned seductive.
"Well, I think I might need you first." His hand reached to touch the silkiness of her hair.
"I agree. Food can wait." Monica pulled his head down and kissed him, greedy to taste his lips.
Without breaking the kiss, Ben guided her out of the hallway into the living room.
Monica slipped her finger under the edge of his collar. "You know, it doesn't seem fair that you get to call all the shots."
"Oh? I call all the shots?" Ben's hands roamed to her rear and squeezed.
"Yes … you decide when and how …" Monica licked the edge of his lip.
"One, that isn’t quite true, and two, I haven't heard you complaining." He gave her a playful pinch on the ass.
"Oh no, I'm not complaining." Her hand moved to the front of his pants, cupping him.
"Then what?" His hands slid down to the back of her thighs.
"I thought it might be fun to … try a little something else." She rubbed him through the fabric of his pants.
"What did you have in mind?" Ben swept his hands up her back and tangled his fingers in her hair.
Monica tilted her head back. "Do you recall that night before I left for Hawaii?"
"I do believe it is burned into my memory."
"Sometimes I wonder if it wouldn't be interesting to reverse things." Monica observed his face for a reaction.
"Reverse things?"
"Oh yes." Her finger laid a trail down the front of his chest. "You," she poked him gently, "would do as I say."
"I see. Are you finding you have a dominant streak?" he teased.
"I'm not sure, but I have a desire to find out." The thought of taking charge appealed to Monica, not all the time, but perhaps occasionally.
Ben smiled. "That sounds … enticing."
"I hoped you'd think so." Monica walked around him, patting his ass with her palm.
"How would you start?"
"I'd tell you to disrobe for my viewing pleasure." Monica enjoyed looking at the hard planes of Ben's body, so different from her own curves.
"Shall I?"
"Oh, yes." Monica crossed the few steps to the seating area and settled herself into an upholstered chair.
Ben approached Monica and then turned his back toward her. He loosened his tie and pulled it free, tossing it over his shoulder in Monica's direction before unbuttoning his shirt and letting the fabric fall to the floor. He turned slightly and caught her eye. Monica flushed under his wicked gaze.

Hot Summer Loving-Hop

Hot, sticky and wet! That’s what it’s currently like at RWA Nationals in Atlanta. For a Southern California girl, I’m certainly not used to this weather. As a writer, though, I always enjoy learning the particulars of a new climate.

Tonight a friend and I ventured out across the city. Light sprinkles abounded. OK, earlier in the night we received a Flash Floor warning via our cell phones, but did we listen? Oh, noooo. How can one pass up a concert in another city? The woman in front of us commented on how she stood in the rain so long, her panties got all “wet.” Ummm, yeah: As a romance writer, that’s poor choice of words.

On the way home, we got caught in a downpour, waiting for a taxi. Still a little sticky, but it was quite the adventure. Wonder which book it will pop up in?

Anyway, I hope your summer is filled with lots of love and romance, and if you’re going through a bit of a dry spell, a whole lot of good reading material!

Tell me: What’s your favorite season? I’m giving away a $10 gift certificate to Amazon or B&N – winner’s choice to one person who comments. So make sure to leave a valid email address.

Currently, I’m working on edits for my first Ellora’s Cave release Long Haul – look for it, coming soon! And check out the rest of my books, including the sizzling erotic paranormal series The Vampire, The Witch & The Werewolf.

Grand Prizes - We have two grand prizes. #1 is a Kindle Fire. #2 is a $50 Amazon.com gift certificate.

Thanks for stopping by!

Down On My Knees (Wt Prater’s Journey through Christianity)

After meeting Wt Prater at the GayRomLit Retreat, it’s amazing to watch his publishing progress. Please welcome Prater to Love Knows No Bounds, as he shares a very personal experience, and how it helped shape his new short story “Exercising His Options,” in the anthology, Ad-Dick-Tion, Vol. 3.
Cults suck. I know that that is a generic statement, but it still holds true. Backstory. . .so I knew that I was gay when I was five, ten, and fifteen. That's when I came out the first time. And although high school in a small town is Hell, I was fairly confident in myself. Until I got to college. I know college is when most people started exploring, but my journey was quite different. In college, I got involved with a church that was hard-core "Christian" (and unknown to me, one of the top ten cults in America). I had always thought I was a good Christian even though I was gay. But this church convinced me that I could not live "that lifestyle" and call myself Christian. So, I made the obvious choice.
I went back into the closet.
Over the next five years, I was taught how to hold a sandwich, talk with my lower register, and walk like a "straight" man. I was only allowed to hang out with manly men, told to date girls, and confess any thoughts of impurity about men. IT WAS HELL! I thought about suicide all the time, and struggled with the worst depression of my life. But it was all in the pursuit of Heaven and a relationship with Jesus. After five years of this, I was finally kicked out of the church because I had not repented enough and my homosexual nature was still too evident.

Enver Mann, the lead character of “Exercising His Options,” is struggling with and will continue to struggle with his religious upbringing. He is a man who sees religion not as an ever-evolving force through which he can grow, but rather (much as I did) a bidding force that will not let him grow. I wrote him as a character who allows himself to be guided by his love, both for himself and his wife, rather than the rules that have been dictated to him over the years. While I have never been a straight man, Enver is very much how I see myself.
BLURB
Exercising His Options
When Enver Mann started jogging every morning, it was at his wife’s provocation. After a year, he’s still at it, but now it’s his choice. Little does he know, that choice may open up a whole world to him. While jogging one day, he happens upon two men having sex, and for the first time he wants that. The man with the red hair and the incredible ass. And while his mind might second guess him, his wife doesn’t. When she instigates their encounter, Enver knows he will never look at life, or sex, the same way again.
AUTHOR BIO
Wt Prater is a writer, having four short stories in various states of publishing, and approximately thirty works in progress. Just Write and SO Gay is his blog, which he strives to update weekly. He is a producer and host on Blog Talk Radio, partnering with Marketing for Romance Writers of which he helps lead. He is also an Assistant Organizer of the Nashville Writer's Group. Online, he has active social networking on Facebook, Twitter, Fetlife, Linked In, Tumbler, Goodreads, and Meet Up. In real life, he stays just as busy bouncing around in his non-profit volunteering from the GLBT community to the BDSM community to church community.
EXCERPT
As Enver Mann looked at Kurt’s hair caught in the wind, and the freckles on the back of his neck that disappeared somewhere into his jacket, Enver wanted nothing more than for this man to lay him down and kiss him. All of course while he was fucking him as hard as he could.  The breeze continued to blow the leaves up and around, creating still more of the tornado like shapes. As the sun continued to peek out of the sky, from behind a cloud, Enver noticed that it now set its gentle light on some places while leaving some spots completely dark.  He looked at Kurt again and saw that the light bounced from his copper hair to his now sweaty shirt. For the first time that he could remember in his life, his mouth actually watered for a sexual act. Thinking of that tender flesh, and the taste he had been yearning for since he had first seen Kurt, he got even harder. Every dream and desire for the last week or so had all involved this man, in some form or fashion. His wife made sure of that.
